The Rosary, as we know it today, is a relatively recent development that has undergone centuries of evolution. It is believed that early Christians counted their prayers by transferring pebbles between piles, later by sliding beads or knots along a string, and eventually by rotating the spokes of a prayer wheel.
Each pearl is hand wrapped with sterling silver wire to create the rosary chain.
Hail Mary beads are 9-10mm freshwater cultured black pearls.
Our Father beads are 18 mm round freshwater cultured white flat pearls.
The circle of the rosary measures 46 inches.
